Built for Licensed IP Merchandise — Not Unauthorised Fan Art

This production service is designed for IP owners, authorised licensees, game studios, publishers, animation companies and official merchandise operators. You provide the rights and approved brand assets; we turn them into production-ready T-shirts.

Authorised Projects Only

We manufacture artwork that you own, control or are authorised to use. Rights confirmation may be requested before sampling or production.

Approval-Ready Samples

Order a physical sample for internal review or licensor approval before committing to the full production quantity.

Confidential Artwork Handling

Unreleased characters, campaigns and launch assets can be handled under an NDA and anonymous project codes.

Multi-Design Production

Organise multiple characters, artworks, placements, sizes and garment colours within one merchandise project.

A Merchandise Tee Should Feel Like a Product, Not a Giveaway

Fabric weight changes how a licensed T-shirt looks, hangs and feels before the customer even studies the artwork.

A 260gsm cotton body creates a denser handfeel and a more structured oversized silhouette. It is better suited to retail collections, collector drops and premium fan merchandise. A lighter 160–180gsm T-shirt may still work for short events or promotional distribution, but it creates a different product position.

260gsm Heavyweight T-Shirt

  • Denser and more substantial handfeel
  • Holds an oversized silhouette more clearly
  • Smoother, more stable presentation in product photography
  • Better aligned with retail and streetwear merchandise
  • Suitable for premium character collections and limited drops

160–180gsm Lightweight T-Shirt

  • Lighter and softer body
  • More casual drape
  • Easier to fold into compact promotional packs
  • Suitable for event giveaways and basic campaign merchandise
  • Different perceived product value

Made for the Details Fans Notice

Character merchandise is judged by details that ordinary promotional printing can overlook: facial features, hair strands, line weight, colour transitions, small costume elements and the relationship between the artwork and the garment colour.

Full-Colour Character Artwork

Suitable for layered shading, facial detail, costume colour and complex illustrated backgrounds. High-resolution transparent artwork is required.

Manga and Comic Linework

Fine black lines, halftone-style textures and small facial details must remain visible at the final physical print size.

Pixel Art and Game Graphics

Pixel edges, limited palettes and deliberately sharp shapes should be preserved rather than automatically softened.

Character and Typography Layouts

Logos, dialogue, titles and copyright lines need enough contrast and physical size to remain readable after printing.

From Artwork Upload to Approval-Ready Production

Licensed merchandise normally requires more control than an ordinary print order. The production process separates artwork checking, physical approval and bulk manufacturing so that corrections can be made before the full quantity is produced.

Step 1

Confirm the Rights

Confirm that the submitted IP, characters, logos and supporting assets are authorised for the intended merchandise project.

Step 2

Artwork Preflight

We review file resolution, transparency, print size, small details, dark areas and possible black-garment risks.

Step 3

Placement Proof

Review the approximate position, scale and garment configuration before the physical sample is produced.

Step 4

Physical Approval Sample

Order a real printed sample to review colour, detail, garment fit and placement.

Step 5

Licensee or Licensor Approval

Your team submits the sample or images through its required approval process. Any requested revisions are confirmed before production.

Step 6

Bulk Production and QC

The approved sample and confirmed production settings become the reference for printing, inspection, packing and future reorders.

One IP. Multiple Characters. One Organised Production Project.

A licensed collection rarely stops at one artwork. Build a project containing multiple characters, colourways, print positions and size breakdowns while keeping each design clearly identified.

For standard DTG production, the MOQ is calculated by each artwork × each garment colour. Sizes may be mixed within that qualified combination.

Build a Multi-Design Project

Choose the Order Path That Matches Your Project

Start with one physical sample, place a straightforward single-design order or organise a larger licensed merchandise collection.

Order One Approval Sample

Best when the artwork, colour or placement must be reviewed by your internal team or licensor before bulk production.

Produce One Approved Design

Best for one artwork, one garment colour and one confirmed print configuration with mixed sizes.

Build a Character Collection

Best for multiple characters, artworks, garment colours, placements and separate size breakdowns.

Reorder an Approved Design

Best when the artwork, placement and production reference have already been approved and no changes are required.

Licensed Character T-Shirt Production FAQ

Do I need to own the character or have a licence?

Yes. You must own, control or have written permission to use the submitted character, logo and artwork for commercial merchandise. We may request confirmation before sampling or production.

Can Modaknits obtain a game, anime or character licence for me?

No. Modaknits is a T-shirt production partner, not a character licensing agency. The IP owner or authorised licensee must provide the production rights and approved assets.

Can you print fan art?

Fan art can only be produced for commercial sale when the person placing the order has the necessary rights or written permission. We do not manufacture unauthorised copies of protected characters.

Can I order one sample before bulk production?

Yes. A physical approval sample is recommended when colour, character detail, print position or licensor approval is important. Bulk production begins only after the required approval is confirmed.

How is the MOQ calculated?

For standard DTG production, the MOQ is 20 pieces per artwork × garment colour. Sizes may be mixed within that qualified combination. Different artworks or different garment colours are treated as separate production combinations.

Can one order contain several characters or designs?

Yes. Use the multi-design project path to organise separate artwork codes, garment colours, placements, quantities and size breakdowns within one larger project.

Can you guarantee an exact Pantone colour?

DTG reproduces artwork through process-colour printing with white ink on dark garments, so screen colours and physical print colours may differ. For colour-sensitive projects, approve a physical sample as the production reference.

Will the same artwork look identical on black and white T-shirts?

Not automatically. Black garments usually require a white underbase, and dark shadows or transparent effects may reproduce differently. We review these risks during artwork preflight and sampling.

What happens if the licensor requests changes?

The requested revision must be confirmed before bulk production. Changes to artwork, colour, placement or size may require an updated proof or another physical sample.

Can you add branded labels and packaging?

Printed or woven neck labels, care labels, size labels, hangtags, barcode stickers and individual packaging can be reviewed as project options. Additional quantities, files and approval may be required.

Will my artwork be shown publicly?

Confidential or unreleased project artwork is not used in public portfolio content without written permission. NDA support and anonymous project codes are available for qualified projects.

Can I reorder an approved design?

Yes. Retaining the approved artwork reference, placement and production settings helps simplify repeat orders. Any change to the file, garment colour or print position may require a new review.
